Boy, was I glad I came to Indonesian Day after work. I had a blast, even though I arrived late. It’s better late than never, and this was just one of the many examples. :)
Theme for Indonesian Day 2010 was LAWANG, Gateway between Indonesia and the rest of the world, and it was held at The Union Square in San Francisco. Indonesian day held annually in San Francisco by the Indonesian community of Northern California. It is in conjuction with the celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day, August 17th. This celebration mark the 65th anniversary.
Co-hosted by Amron-Paul Yuwono & Tania Gunadi, both were amazing. They kept the schedule going, never once any dull moments. Little did I know, they both are artists! Tania has been featured in many films here in US, and currently played one of the leads in Aaron Stone on Disney XD. Amron is just an all around multi talented artist, his hobbies are just numerous; acting, directing, styling, choreographer, are just to name a few of his talents.
Indonesian Day brought out some of the intriguing performances, such as: (pulled out from programs)
- Classical Balinese Gamelan and Dance Concert
- Meeghan Henry Concert & Dancers
- Indonesian Artist: Hedi Yunus
- Tari Kelana Topeng Dance (Central Java): Michael Ogi
- Tari Kembang Topeng Dance (Sundanese West Java)
- Gamelan Contemporary Jazz Bali
- Sofia Latjuba, Eva Lesmana, and Alfred Agus Band
- Tari Yapong (Bagong Kusudiardjo Creation from Yogjakarta): Ninik Lunde & Her Dance Group
- Modern Creation Dance: Padi Barea

Randy,
You have great eyes… you know how to capture object beautifully through your lenses.
Thank you so very much for taking and sharing those exotic moments of Indo Day SF 2010: LAWANG in Union Square last Saturday.
If you were early, you could have captured more including the National Dress Procession, Gamelan Sekar Jaya and many more.
How did you hear about the Indo Day anyhow? Or did you just found us by accident?
It’s nice meeting you and thank you again.
Peace,
Amron-Paul Yuwono
